4th Brusko Pacific Coast Epic Race 2022

BRUSKO PACIFIC COAST EPIC

Bound by the Pacific Ocean to the east, and flanked by beautiful mountains of the Sierra Madre to its west, the Brusko Pacific Coast Epic takes you to a pedal-powered journey into the scenic landscapes of General Nakar. All categories travel across the General Nakar to Umiray route, of which, 95% of the course runs on trail. Fire roads, gravel tracks, river crossings, uphills, downhills, flats - General Nakar has everything to offer and a unique cycling experience awaits at the 4th Brusko Pacific Coast Epic.

 

I. CATEGORIES

160 KM Team MTB
Gun Start: August 20, 2022, Saturday, 6:00 AM
Cut-Off Times:
Day 1 - 14 Hours (8:00 PM)
Day 2 - 8 Hours (2:00 PM)

The 160 KM Team category is a 2-day stage race with teams consisting of 2 riders each. Stage 1 takes on a 100-km course that begins at the General Nakar Municipal Hall, followed by a short out-and-back route to Pagsangahan U-Turn Checkpoint, before heading straight to Dinigman, where teams will spend the night.

Your essentials, packed in a small bag, will be transported to Dinigman. Participants will be provided with tent accommodations by the beach and adjacent to the river, and will be treated with hefty meals and drinks after a long days ride. A mechanic will also be on-site.

Stage 2 starts in Dinigman, and ahead is a 60-km homestretch back to General Nakar Muncipal Hall. A lunch buffet awaits participants at the General Nakar Municipal Hall.

Quick Directions:

  1. From General Nakar Municipal hall, turn right at Syltex Gasoline Station.
  2. Turn left to Sitio Pagsangahan U-Turn Checkpoint. Check-in, and go back to junction.
  3. Go back to junction, turn left going to Dinigman. End of Stage 1.
  4. Day 2. Start at Dinigman, head straight back to General Nakar Municipal Hall.

100 KM MTB

Gun Start: August 20, 2022, Saturday, 7:00 AM
Cut-Off Time: 14 Hours (9:00 PM)

The 100 KM Individual MTB category is a single-stage out-and-back course that begins at the General Nakar Municipal Hall, enters the main race course, and all the way to Dinigman. Participants must check in with the race officials in Dinigman before heading back to General Nakar Municipal Hall.

  3. Head back to General Nakar Municipal Hall. 

75 KM MTB

Cut-Off Time: 10 Hours (5:30 PM)

The 75 KM Individual MTB Category is a single-stage out-and-back course that begins at the General Nakar Municipal Hall, enters the main race course, and all the way to Masanga. Participants must check in with the race officials in Masanga before heading back to General Nakar Municipal Hall.

75 KM Gravel

Gun Start: August 20, 2022, Saturday, 8:00 AM
Cut-Off Time: 10 Hours (6:00 PM)

The 75 KM Individual Gravel Bike Category is a new category in the 4th Edition. This category follows the same route as the 75 KM Individual MTB - a single-stage out-and-back course that begins at the General Nakar Municipal Hall, enters the main race course, and all the way to Masanga. Participants must check in with the race officials in Masanga before heading back to General Nakar Municipal Hall.

30 KM Camp Sandugo Fun Ride

Gun Start: August 21, 2022, Sunday, 6:00 AM

Another new category in the 4th Edition is the Camp Sandugo 30 KM Fun Ride. The Camp Sandugo Fun Ride is open to everyone and to all types of bicycles. The ride begins at the General Nakar Municipal Hall, and enters the main trail route, travels 15 kilometers to Camp Sandugo Tamala. Enjoy snacks and refreshments by the beach that await participants at the Camp Sandugo Tamala U-Turn Checkpoint. Check in, before heading back to General Nakar Municipal Hall for a buffet lunch.

 III. FEED STATIONS & NUTRITION

There will be aid/feed stations more or less every  10 kilometers. Major aid stations will have solid food, snacks, rice meals available while other stations will have water only.

Participants retain the ultimate responsibility to carry enough hydration and nutrition with them.

    VII. GENERAL NAKAR LGU REQUIREMENTS

    All participants, companions, and visitors are required to register with General Nakar Tourism Office.

    FOR REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS, tourism fees (tourism fee and bike fee) are included in the registration fees. Upon registration, please include the following details:

    VIII. ACCOMMODATIONS

    Participants can find resort and hotel accommodations in General Nakar or Infanta. Kindly click the link to see the list of tourism-accredited accommodation establishments.

    1. General Nakar. See list of accommodations here. Note: Do not include Kuta Bungliw, Nature Escapade, and Tinipak Camping Ground as these locations are far from the main venue.

     

    VIII. REGISTRATION

    Participants can only register via register.raceyaya.com . Participants should ensure they have read all race and event details, rules, and protocols and agree to the terms of participation by ticking it before submitting registration.

    XI. MEDICAL / HEALTH REQUIREMENT

    1. Participants must be in good health condition and well-trained.
    2. Participants must submit a medical or health certificate that recognizes the named participant to be of good health and fit to join the specific distance (e.g. 165-KM, 100 KM, 30 KM, 75 KM) of the race.
    3. Vaccination cards will NOT be considered as medical/health certificates.
    4. In accordance with General Nakar’s health protocols, participants and visitors are required to submit their vaccination cards along with their accommodation forms. In addition,  LGU officials may require vaccination cards/certificates to be presented at checkpoints, it is highly advisable to bring with you.

     X. BIKE RESTRICTIONS

    1. For 75 KM & 100 KM MTB Categories

    Mountain Bikes should have suspension forks with recommended minimum tire size of 2.0. Rigid forks will be allowed provided that tires should have a minimum size of 3.0.

    Fat bikes are welcome to join MTB categories. However, there will be no sub-category for fat bikes.Fat bikes will be considered as MTB’s.

    E-MTB’s & gravel bikes are not allowed.

    2. For GRAVEL Category

    Gravel bikes should utilize drop bars (not flat bars, corner bars, or the likes).

    Rigid forks only.

    Maximum tire size is 48.


    3. For 160 KM TEAM Category 

    Fat bikes are welcome to join the 160 KM TEAM category.

    Gravel bikes with drop bars, corner bars, Jones bars or the likes will be allowed. 

    Rigid forks on MTB’s will also be allowed.

    E-MTB’s are not allowed. 

     

    4. For CAMP SANDUGO 30K FUN RIDE Category

    No bike restrictions for the 30K Camp Sandugo Fun Ride, however, mountain bikes and gravel bikes are highly recommendedfor General Nakar’s trails 

    E-MTB’s will be allowed for the Camp Sandugo 30K Fun Ride.

     

    5. Registered participants who fail to comply with restrictions will not be allowed to participate in the event or will be subjected for disqualification.

    6. Maintenance/safe working condition of bicycles during the race is the responsibility of each rider.

       

      XI. HELMET & CLOTHING

      1. All participants must wear helmets while riding. Participants who fail to comply will be flagged down and asked to wear their helmets properly. Frequent violation of the participant may lead to disqualification.
      2. Race bibs must be worn properly and must be visible at all times. Race numbers for handle bars / drop bars will also be provided and should be properly displayed at all times.
      3. Participants are not allowed to change bib numbers nor complete the race in their behalf.
      4. Wearing closed shoes is highly recommended, but not mandatory.

       

      XII. RACE CONDUCT / RULING / ENVIRONMENTAL

      1. Participants must present themselves in a sportsmanlike and good character. Participants must not use offensive or abusive language during the race, act in an unsporting manner, be disrespectful to the officials, or ignore the race regulations. Race director, officials, and organizers may disqualify participants who fail to conduct themselves properly.
      2. Intentional contact by pushing, pulling, or other means which causes another competitor to slow down, fall, or exit the course is not allowed and results in disqualification.
      3. Participants must respect the countryside, its locals, and its customs.
      4. Riders must be present at the starting/staging area before the race.  Attendance of race safety briefing is also a must.
      5. Participants must complete the entire distance of the race, and the responsibility for following the official route lies with the participant. Cutting corners and taking short cuts that lead to an unfair advantage are considered illegal and will lead to disqualification.
      6. Unnecessary damage to the environment and littering will not be tolerated. Observe leave no trace principle.

       

      XIII. WITHDRAWAL

      1. Any participant who cannot continue for whichever reason must immediately inform Race Officials. Race Officials will require you to surrender your race bib.
      2. Participants who are given a Did Not Start (DNS), Did Not Finish (DNF), or Disqualified (DSQ) are not entitled to a finisher’s medal and will not be included in the standing.
      3. Participants who will take/hire motorized vehicle transportation assistance during their race run will be disqualified from the race. Race bibs will be confiscated by the race official.

       

      XIV. DISQUALIFICATION 

      Participants may be disqualified at the discretion of the race officials for any one or more of the following reasons including but not limited to:

      1. Not wearing a helmet
      2. Littering
      3. Damage to environment
      4. Unsportsmanlike conduct
      5. Disrespect to race officials
      6. Conduct violations
